Four dead in shooting in rural Pennsylvania
A shooting on a rural road in Pennsylvania has left four dead, including the shooter.
Four people are dead in rural Pennsylvania after a shootout on a country road.
Police told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the shooter gunned down a woman at Juniata Valley Gospel Church in Blair County before shooting and killing two men in a home driveway after a confrontation at a stop sign.
Three state troopers were also injured after the shootout in which the gunman fired at the police car, said the Associated Press.
It is still unclear as to why the shooting took place.
Marie Brenneman, a cousin of one of the victims, told the Tribune-Review the shooter was a neighbor of the two male victims and “they were uneasy around him."
It happened during a press conference by the National Rifle Association called in response to the Sandy Hook shooting which left 20 children and six adults dead.
GlobalPost reported that the NRA's executive vice president, Wayne LaPierre, told reporters that violent video games and mental illness were the likely causes of the second deadliest mass shooting in US history.
He called for a national database of mentally ill people to ensure that they could not get guns.
LaPierre also said that schools should have armed guards.
The Pennsylvania shooting occurred in the Frankstown Township in Blair County, 100 miles east of Pittsburgh.
