Fiona Apple postpones tour to be with her dying dog

Fiona Apple has postponed the South American leg of her tour to be with her dying dog.

The pop singer said "I will not be the woman who puts her career ahead of love and friendship," the Associated Press reported.

Apple posted a handwritten letter to fans online and via Facebook. She wrote Janet, her 14-year-old Pit bull, is her best friend and ‘‘taught [her] what love is,’ AP wrote.

The dog has Addison’s Disease and is near death.

Apple asked for patience and said she intends to reschedule the dates.

The South American part of her "The Idler Wheel" tour was supposed to begin November 27th in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Rolling Stone said.

"Sometimes it takes me 20 minutes to pick which socks to wear to bed," Apple added. "But this decision is instant. These are the choices we make, which define us."
