LONDON, UK – A former Russian banker is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot several times near London’s financial district.

The Metropolitan Police are treating the attack as attempted murder, according to Sky News.
Scotland Yard said it was “too early to speculate” on Russian reports that the attack may have been connected to a murder attempt on another Russian banker, Alexander Antonov, in Moscow.
Gorbuntsov is currently under armed guard in hospital. The BBC reports that detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command are dealing with the incident.
Gorbuntsov, in his 40s, previously owned banks in Russia and Moldova, according to ITN News.
