Former congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned last year following a sex scandal, is reportedly considering running for NYC mayor in 2013.

Former congressman Anthony Weiner may be returning to New York politics.

Weiner resigned last year after he was sent lewd photos of himself over Twitter to a women.

According to the New York Post, Weiner still has a "$4.5 million campaign war chest" and is “seriously considering” a mayoral run.

The Post reported the Democrat from Queens is reportedly “desperate” to get back into politics.

Before the scandal hit, Weiner had been exploring a 2013 run, the Huffington Post wrote.

Weiner came under fire for the photos and was forced to resign. His seat in Congress was then won by Republican Bob Turner.

His wife, Huma Abedin, is an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
