Delaware shooting: man kills wife at Wilmington courthouse

An armed man opened fire at the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington, Del., Monday morning, setting off a shoot-out that left two women and the gunman dead, according to reports.
One of the women killed was the shooter's estranged wife, authorities told reporters. It was unclear whether the two women had died in direct fire from the gunman or in the crossfire that ensued.
The shooter was killed by Capitol Police officers, according to state police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack, the (Wilmington, Del.) News Journal reported.
The shootings occurred around 8:10 a.m. One of the wounded was a security guard, Fox News reported.
Witnesses reported that the gunman came into the courthouse lobby shooting, according to the News Journal. Workers in the building who heard the shots hid out in their offices.
The shooter was between 20 and 30 years old, according to Reuters. Further details have not yet been released.
"I don't know what to say,'' Ferris Wharton, a public defender and former chief deputy attorney general, who has worked in the Wilmington courthouses for 30 years, told the News Journal. "I've never heard of anything like this happening in Delaware. It's a wild situation.''
