Bonnie and Clyde guns up for auction

Guns used by American gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, who died in a hail of police gunfire in 1934, are up for auction.

The snub-nosed .38 revolver was found taped to Parker's inner thigh and the Colt .45 semiautomatic pistol was in Barrow's waistband after they were ambushed and fatally shot by police in Louisiana 78 years ago, according to CNN.

"These guns are well known in the marketplace, well known to Bonnie and Clyde collectors, well known to have belonged to Frank Hamer," said RR Auction vice president Bobby Livingston. Hamer was one of the officers who killed the gangster duo.

The guns are a part of an auction entitled "American Gangsters, Outlaws and Lawmen," which will take place in New Hampshire this weekend, said BBC News. 

Visitors will be able to view 130 items Saturday and bid for them Sunday at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua, reported the Associated Press. The event will also include a signed deposition from Al Capone, a John Dillinger death mask, and a vintage 1930s press ID card signed by prohibition investigator Eliot Ness, after Ness left Chicago for Cleveland to serve as director of Public Safety. Some of the items are expected to get more than $100,000.

CNN also noted that Livingston said the starting bids for the guns are $75,000 and his auction house is hoping to get $150,000 for each of them, which have been authenticated through a provenance paper trail.
