Armed thieves target Apple store in Paris

Armed thieves stole $1.3 million worth of goods from Apple’s flagship in Paris on New Year’s Eve.

The theft happened around 9 p.m. local time, about three hours after closing time, the Associated Press reported.

Christophe Crepin from the police union UNSA told Reuters that “four masked and armed individuals” broke into the store and later made their getaway in a van.

"They were well prepared. As the majority of police were busy watching the Champs Elysees (for New Year's Eve celebrations), the robbers took advantage of this opportunity," he was quoted as saying.

French media reported that EUR1 million, or $1.3 million, worth of goods was stolen but police would not confirm the value, the Wall Street Journal reported.
