Apple goes on patent binge after judge sides with Samsung

Apple has asked a federal court to add six more products to its patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung, Reuters reported. The products that Apple now wants taken off store shelves include Samsung's popular Galaxy S III, which runs the new Android "Jelly Bean" operating system, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the Samsung Rugby Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini.

Apple threw the patent tantrum after a judge sided with Samsung last week, by ordering Apple to hand over its trade secrets to the company. As The Verge reported, Samsung had asked the court to force Apple to reveal a copy of its settlement agreement with phone maker HTC, so Samsung could see which patents are covered in the deal. Last week the judge agreed and ordered Apple to reveal the deal to Samsung. Seeing the deal could help Samsung in its defense against Apple, iDigitalTimes reported.

Apple subsequently added the slew of new Samsung products to its lawsuit, likely in response to the judge's ruling, The Atlantic reported.

Apple had tough words for Samsung in the patent filings that were viewed by Reuters: "Apple has acted quickly and diligently to determine that these newly-released products do infringe many of the same claims already asserted by Apple," Apple said. Oh no they didn't!
