American woman found stabbed to death in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – An American woman has been found dead with her throat slashed in the Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende, the Associated Press reported Thursday, citing the US Embassy.

The woman, identified as Joyous Heart, was found stabbed to death in her home on February 1.

The municipal government released a statement saying Heart, who had lived in the popular tourist city in central Mexico for a number of years, had an 18-year-old adoptive daughter, Periodico.am reported.

The daughter was adopted four years ago and had been diagnosed with severe schizophrenia, according to the statement.

Police are looking for the teenager, who has not been seen since leaving the house following an argument with Heart.
