$1 bank robber in Pennsylvania gets his wish, goes to jail

Jeffery M. McMullen wanted so badly inside prison that he tried to rob a Pennsylvania bank — of $1.
McMullen walked into the AmeriServ in Northern Cambria about 1:30 p.m. on Friday and handed a note to a bank teller demanding a single bank note, The Tribune-Democrat reported.
“He told her he would wait until police arrived,” police Sgt. Isaac Hassen told the newspaper.
The 50-year-old alleged robber even had a prison in mind, but he didn’t want his story caught in the press.
Another note said: “FBI custody. Preferbly (sic) Loretto Pa. No press. Seal all files,” the Trib-Dem said.

The federal prison is Loretto is a low-security facility for men, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Confused, the teller suggested he try speaking to another employee or the bank manager.
A third teller finally handed the man $1 from her purse before calling police.
Police are holding him on $50,000 bond as he awaits a mental evaluation, The Associated Press said.
