Yemen: 3 suspected US drone strikes reported in one day

GlobalPost

Three believed US drone strikes killed as many as 12 suspected militants in Yemen on Thursday, according to the Associated Press, citing an unnamed Yemeni official.

Reuters reported a total of eight alleged militants killed on Thursday, as did BBC News. The differing casualty counts could not be immediately explained.

The United States releases little information about its drone activity, making such reports difficult to verify.

The alleged strikes come at a time of heightened concern about the threat of extremist activity in Yemen, home to a terror group the US considers one of the world's most dangerous.

According to the AP, Thursday's strikes make for a total of eight such attacks in the nation within the past two weeks.

At least 25 people have been killed in these most recent strikes, according to Reuters
