White House petition asks Congress to dress like Nascar drivers

Are your congressman's views on healthcare funded by the pharmaceutical industry? A popular petition posted on the White House website is proposing an easy way to help you find out. The petition asks lawmakers to wear patches that would display the names of their individual and corporate financial backers, "much like NASCAR drivers do."

Politicians would wear company logos at all campaign events and continue to do so after they are elected.

"The size of a logo or name would vary with the size of a donation," the petition says.

Unfortunately, the proposal would probably break the stuffy House and Senate dress code, the Huffington Post reported.

The proposal was created by an unnamed American from St. Louis, the Daily Mail reported. The petition is part of the Obama administration's We The People program that invites citizens to submit ideas and try to gather signatures. The White House will respond to an idea that gathers 100,000 signatures within 30 days.
