Westboro Baptist Church targets Roger Ebert’s funeral

The Westboro Baptist Church has criticized late film critic Roger Ebert in a press release and announced plans to picket his funeral today. "Lord willing, WBC to picket in lawful proximity to the funeral of fag enabler Roger Ebert," begins the press release.

Why is the church so mad at Ebert? Because he "took to the Twitterverse to mock the faithful servants of God at Westboro Baptist Church, just days before he received the horrifying summons."

It's true: Ebert made fun of the Westboro Baptist Church, the unpopular hate group that believes that gay people are responsible for much of the world's evils. On March 25, Ebert tweeted: "Just another day at Westboro Baptist," with an attached article by Salon investigating the church.

The WBC's previous targets for funeral picketing have been victims of the Sandy Hook shooting and military funerals, though the WBC has a tendency to sometimes flake on its own planned protests. Perhaps they get stuck in traffic behind gay people.
