Floods in Sudan have left at least 36 people dead and thousands without homes.

It is believed that 5,000 homes, most made of mud brick, have been destroyed.

Other reports say that closer to 26,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged.

Torrential rains began in early August and continue, affecting eight states and about 150,000 people.
