World leaders joined tens of thousands of South Africans to celebrate the life of the late Nelson Mandela at a soccer stadium in Johannesburg.
US President Barack Obama described Nelson Mandela as a “giant of history” in a speech delivered during the memorial service for the former South African president at FNB stadium in Johannesburg on Dec. 10, 2013.
US President Barack Obama, UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Cuban President Raul Castro were among the dozens of world leaders to attend the official memorial service for the late Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.
Tens of thousands of mourners gathered at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg to celebrate the life of the former South African president, who died at his home on Dec. 5. He was 95.
A state funeral for the anti-apartheid leader will be held on Sunday.
