Morrissey cancels US tour dates due to illness

Morrissey has cancelled 22 concerts in the US due to medical reasons.

The 53-year-old, who was due to perform at Liberty Hall in Kansas on Monday, had already pulled out of 21 gigs earlier this year after suffering a series of medical problems, BBC reported.

His publicist Lauren Papapietro said in a press release Saturday that a "series of mishaps" had made it impossible for the singer to continue touring.

These mishaps included a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's oesophagus and double pneumonia, his publicist said.

Papapietro said despite his best efforts to try to continue touring for his fans, Morrissey had "taken a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour", the Hollywood Reporter said.

She added: "Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well-wishes and thoughts. Refunds for the remaining shows are available at point of purchase."
