Mexico police join search for US man suspected of kidnapping 10-year-old girl in Los Angeles

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Mexican police have joined the search for a US man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Los Angeles before fleeing across the border.
The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday that Mexican police had issued wanted posters for Tobias Dustin Summers, who was seen crossing into Tecate in Baja California a few days ago.
“We want to find the guy before he rapes a Mexican kid,” Alfredo Arenas, commander of the Baja California state police fugitive squad, was quoted as saying.
“We’re thinking that he did cross the border and he is on our side of the fence, but we don’t know exactly where.”
Summers was charged in his absence on Wednesday with 37 felonies, including kidnapping, burglary and sex-related offences.
His suspected accomplice, Daniel Martinez, was arrested last Sunday.
The men have been accused of breaking into the girl’s home in Northbridge on March 27 and kidnapping her.
She was found about 12 hours later near a Starbucks in Woodland Hills, several miles from her home. She was scratched, bruised and barefoot.
