Londoners are dealing with the city’s heat wave in the most British way ever

GlobalPost

London is currently experiencing a pretty brutal heat wave.

A July record was set in England when a temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius — 98.1 degrees Fahrenheit — was measured at London Heathrow Airport. On London’s Central Line, temperatures soared to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, leaving some people dehydrated.

The heat is disrupting daily life in a big way. Train cars are crammed with sweaty, overheated commuters; hospitals have been described as operating in "sauna-like" conditions; fast trains have been canceled due to fears of buckling tracks, and emergency phone lines have been flooded with calls.

The London Ambulance Service received over 1,900 calls due to the heat wave on July 1 alone.

Some locals even took a naked dip in the Thames to escape the heat wave.

Naturally, Londoners are taking to Twitter to participate in what some consider a British national pastime: moaning about the weather.

This time, we think it's merited. Here are some of the hilarious ways that Brits are coping with the weather:

Hang in there Londoners. The Weather Channel predicts the heat wave will last into next week.
