Knife-wielding man arrested at Buckingham Palace

A 44-year-old man wielding a knife was arrested on Monday morning after he attempted to dart through the north center gates of Buckingham Palace, with motives that are currently unknown. 

The knife was discovered on the intruder after he was arrested at 11:30 AM reports the BBC, which added that Queen Elizabeth II wasn't in residence at the palace at the time of the security breach.

The man is still in custody, writes the Independent, and is suspected of possession of both an offensive weapon and of trespassing on a protected site, per British law. 

This isn't the only embarrassing Buckingham palace security breach in recent months: in September, two men were arrested on suspicion of attempting to break into the royal sovereign's residence.

One of the men scaled a fence during the day to enter the area, while another was arrested outside of the Queen's home, suspected of conspiracy to commit burglary, wrote the BBC.

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, was later confronted by jumpy security guards who demanded he identify himself two days later, in a distinctly embarrassing incident.
