Jury indicts driver who said on YouTube that he ‘killed a man’ (VIDEO)

The driver who filmed a YouTube confession claiming that he "killed a man" in a fatal car accident after drinking heavily has been indicted by a grand jury.

A jury in Franklin County, Ohio, indicted Matthew Cordle, 22, on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the Associated Press reported.

Cordle admitted to killing a man in a dramatic three-and-a-half-minute video posted on YouTube last week.

"My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22nd, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani," he says somberly. "This video will act as my confession."

More than 1.3 million people had viewed the video by Monday afternoon.

Cordle was a suspect in the crash that killed 61-year-old Canzani, but had not been charged.

Cordle said in the video that he would plead guilty and "take full responsibility for everything I've done to Vincent and his family."

His defense attorney, George Breitmayer III, told NBC News that Cordle turned himself in at the Franklin County jail at about 1:15 p.m. on Monday.

Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien says Cordle faces up to eight and a half years in prison if convicted.

The victim's daughter, Angela Canzani, accused Cordle of making the video to appear more sympathetic.

"If he wanted to raise awareness, I mean, I would've commended him for that down the road, but the video is totally misleading," she told NBC News.

"The motives, I believe, are so he'll get a lighter sentence."

Cordle's arraignment is expected to take place Tuesday afternoon.
