Tornadoes have left at least 63 people injured in eastern Japan, according to Al Jazeera.

The severe weather, which has already caused considerable damage, is expected to continue over the next day or two.

The storm strength was such that an entire warehouse was lifted up and crashed into other buildings in Koshigaya city, which is north of Tokyo, said Agence-France Press.

The severe weather also cut electricity to more than 30,000 people in the Saitama, Chiba, and Ibaraki areas, according to The Asahi Shimbun

"In flatter parts of the region particularly, warm, wet air can come inland and spark tornados," a Japanese meteorologist told AFP. "This is especially the case when there is a typhoon developing in the south."

Speaking of the south, according to Al Jazeera Tropical Storm Toraji is set to land in the country's southwest on Wednesday.
