Iraq’s miracle baby: Child delivered after bomb hits mother in labor

The blast hit an ambulance carrying a woman in labor in Iraq's volatile northern Nineveh area, injuring her and killing two others, according to Agence-France Press.
The attack took place near the city of Mosul — presumably close to a medical establishment, because AFP was told the woman's child was delivered by Caesarian section and was in fine health.
The blast killed a doctor and one of the woman's relatives, and wounded the ambulance driver, said AFP. The report could not be immediately independently confirmed.
Also Monday, Iraqi officials told the Associated Press a bombing at a Sunni funeral in Baghdad left at least 14 people dead.
Iraq is experiencing a dramatic rise in violence, with 4,000 people reported killed since April.
