BOSTON, Mass. — GlobalPost seeks a freelance, part-time data journalist who is passionate about international affairs and possesses the rare ability to communicate global news and issues with plenty of voice.

This person will mine the web for information on global news and trends and turn it into shareable graphs, charts and maps. The position can be done from home, or anywhere for that matter, working online and over the phone with an editor in Boston.

Candidates should have knowledge of statistics and/or working with excel formulas to parse data. To be successful the candidate will need to have a solid grasp of what makes data valid or representative.

Candidates should be comfortable users and consumers of social media and have familiarity with content management systems, and all the standard practices of web publishing. Successful candidates will also be enthusiastic about learning and using all the emerging digital tools now available to creative journalists.
