FBI agents in Minnesota arrested a local man who was allegedly planning a terrorist attack.

Buford "Bucky" Rogers, 24, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say Rogers had a cache of weapons and explosives in his home including Molotov cocktails and a suspected pipe bomb, according to an FBI affidavit.

The affidavit also said firearms also were discovered including a Romanian AK-M assault rifle.

Rogers may have been in the planning stages of a terrorist attack on the residents of Montevido, about 130 miles west of Minneapolis.

"The FBI believes that a terror attack was disrupted by law enforcement personnel and that the lives of several local residents were potentially saved," the FBI said in a press release.

Rogers remained in federal custody Monday and is due to appear in federal court in St. Paul, Minn..

According to CNN, local law enforcement officials said that Rogers held anti-government views and the case is a domestic terrorism investigation that does not involve any international terrorism groups like al Qaeda.

"This is a very active investigation," FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said Monday. Authorities are "looking at this from a domestic terrorism standpoint," he added.
