David Viens, California chef who boiled wife’s body, sentenced to prison
A California chef convicted of killing his wife and boiling her body was sentenced today to 15 years to life in prison.
David Viens, 49, confessed that he bound his wife with tape, later found her dead and cooked her body over four days in October 2009 to hide the evidence.

He dumped what was left over with other restaurant waste and hid her skull in her mother’s attic.
Dawn Viens, 39, was reported missing about a month later.
According to The Associated Press, Viens gave a rambling, 45-minute speech during today's sentencing, saying the story he told police was a lie.

"I loved my wife. I didn't cook my wife," the Los Angeles Times quoted him as saying.
The judge later dismissed Viens' motion for a new trial.
After learning police wanted him in connection with his wife's disappearance, Viens jumped from an 80-foot cliff in February 2011.
