Bus crash in Pakistan kills 27 soldiers

A bus carrying mostly Pakistani soldiers plunged into a ravine in the country's northwest Saturday, killing 27 and injuring at least five.
Senior government official Aqil Badshah said the accident happened in the Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as the bus was making its way from the garrison city of Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, to the northern town of Gilgit, reported AP.

In a statement, the military said the dead and injured soldiers were originally from Gilgit.
The tragedy follows a bus accident last month in which 17 people died, mostly women and children, on their way to a wedding in Peshawar.
