One person was killed and three people wounded in an accident on Sunday at a nuclear power plant in Russellville, Arkansas, according to CNN.
Officials said a worker was killed when a generator broke as it was being transported from the turbine building at Entergy Corporation's Unit 1 plant, reported Reuters. A local coroner told CNN the victim was 24-year-old Wade Walters of Russellville.
"There was no nuclear release of any kind," Reuters cited Arkansas Health Department spokesman Ed Barham as saying.
"We can understand the concern of all Arkansans about the situation at Arkansas Nuclear One," the health department's emergencies director, Dr. William Mason, said in a statement cited by CNN.
"We are closely monitoring what's happening there and will make recommendations for additional action if the need arises," the department said, recommending that "residents to take this time to review their Emergency Instructions Booklet" and other emergency resources.
Those injured have been hospitalized.
Unit 1 was taken offline to refuel, said Reuters, while Unit 2 was automatically shut down following the incident, an Entergy statement said.
