Why the new small business jobs bill may not create jobs

The World

The government wants to create new jobs. Most new jobs come from small businesses. Logic might suggest that the government should support small businesses, yet that’s proven hard to do in practice. Why? And, are there better ways for the government to encourage businesses to hire more people?

Harvard Business School’s Josh Lerner has some ideas. He’s says we shouldn’t focus on small businesses, but new businesses, like the one Michael Glass has started . Glass is the co-founder and technical officer of a startup energy technology company called Reducify, and he might be exactly the kind of business person the Obama administration should be reaching out to.
