While the siege continues at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, al-Shabab is also on the offensive inside Somalia.

The BBC's Mark Doyle is in the important southern Somali port-city of Kismayo, embedded with African Union peacekeeping troops, from Kenya and Sierra Leone.

He says the base he's at has been attacked every night in the five days since he arrived.

Displaced people have the Shabab controlled areas, because they say Shabab is taking their wealth and their children.
