People have many misconceptions surrounding the global poor. Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee are destroying those misconceptions.

“The poor are like you and me, but they have less money,” Esther Duflo told The Takeaway. In their new book, Poor Economics, Abhijit Banerjee, a professor of economics at MIT, and Esther Duflo, professor of poverty alleviation and development economics at MIT, explore how the global poor actually live. And they find that many of the ways that people try to help the poor actually don’t help.
