A Liberal’s Case for Guns

The Takeaway

Whenever there is a mass shooting in America, whether in a school, a mall, or a temple, the debate over gun rights and gun control heats up.
Author Craig Whitney  is the author of “Living with Guns: A Liberal’s Case for the Second Amendment.”  Craig considers himself a political liberal, but his beliefs concerning the right to bear arms are much more complicated.
“There may be as many as three and a half million of these so-called assault weapons in circulation, or available to be bought in the United States,” Whitney notes. “The question really is, how do you keep weapons like that, or any kind of gun, out of the hands of people who should not have them?”
