Guatemalan President Perez Pushes for Drug Legalization

Guatemala neither produces nor consumes large amounts of illegal drugs but the Central American nation has become a busy hub for traffickers sending Colombian cocaine north to the US.

That’s led to a spike in violence and corruption in Guatemala, similar to the one in Mexico.

To counter it, Guatemala’s President Otto Perez wants to decriminalize drugs.
