Al Jarreau ‘Love Songs’

The Tavis Smiley Show

"It’s a very deliberate pace, I’m talking about my heart every time I say something … it’s what I feel, and I don’t take that lightly. So it takes me a while to write a song."

Jarreau says love songs take a very prominent place in his body of work: "I think it’s probably close to 98 to 99 percent of songs written, where the theme is love."

"Love Songs" started out as a Valentines project for Jarreau seven years ago. The album is a collection of some of his classics, along with covers of other favorites — like Elton John’s "Your Song."

"The Tavis Smiley Show" is a weekly show offering a unique blend of news and newsmakers in expanded conversations, along with feature reports and regular commentators. "The Tavis Show is produced by Tavis Smiley productions, and distributed nationwide by PRI.
