There are reports that 4,000 people have been protesting in Daraa, Syria and that security forces used teargas on the crowd. However, according to Reem Haddad, Syrian information ministry spokesperson and director of Syrian TV, this is simply not true. She says that the people of Syria are different from the people of the United States. She also says that “never in Syria has there been an incident of sectarian unrest. In Syria religious tolerance is not taught to us,” she says, “it is part of the DNA.”
