Thousands of people occupied the central square on Monday to demand political reform or the downfall of the government of President Bashar al-Assad. Witnesses said twenty-thousand demonstrators were occupying the main square in the city of Homs when security forces started firing and unverified video footage shows heavy gunfire in the main square on Monday night.
