Morris the mammoth discovered in Mich. golf course

The World

A story 11,000 years in the making. The fossil remains of a mammoth were discovered in the golf course of Morrison Lake Country Club. Dixie Riley owns the country club in Saranac, Mich., and tells us the story.

Since the University of Michigan will keep the mammoth (which she named Morris), her find won’t exactly bring Riley any fortune. She will also likely have to pay to fix up the ground that was dug up. She explains how she decided to dig up the fossil and we hear what exactly happens when a large fossil is found on your property.
