Israel considers more Gaza operations

Israel has declared that the withdrawal does not mean an end of confrontations. Hamas supporters in Gaza marched in defiance today, declaring the withdrawal a victory. This Israeli spokesman calls such claims propaganda. This spokesman says there is no quick solution and that Israel has to keep on the pressure. But keeping the pressure on Hamas may not be in Israel’s interest. This military analyst says the situation in Gaza is so desperate that Hamas feels it has nothing to lose by shooting rockets into Israel. He thinks Israel will eventually have to engage by Hamas, an idea which has been promoted by many Israelis on the left. But hardliners within Hamas show no interest in a ceasefire and the US has ruled out talks with Hamas.
