Duke’s controversy-scarred lacrosse team wins championship

The World

Duke’s men’s lacrosse team won the national championship last night, beating Notre Dame 6-5. For some, this is brings relief and closure for a team that was still marred by a 2006 media and legal firestorm that included charges of rape and assault. The charges turned out to be false, but in 2006 Duke cancelled the Lacrosse season, and players received a 5th year of eligibility. Freelance sports reporter, Dan Friedell covered the emotional game.
