In the continuing uproar over the arrest of Henry Louis Gates, Jr., one of the nation’s preeminent African American scholars, Cambridge police released audio of the 911 call reporting a possible break-in that eventually led to his arrest. Was that 911 call sufficient cause to give an officer the right to enter a private residence? Was a basic Constitutional right broken?
