President Mohamed Morsi proposed a consensus government as a way out of the crisis in Egypt and the country's top general called for an emergency meeting with civilian political leaders to discuss a new interim government. Meanwhile, tanks have surrounded the presidential palace and a travel ban has been placed upon Mohammed Morsi. A top Morsi adviser has said a military coup is underway.
