Canada’s new prime minister announced a snap election over the weekend as the country faces a trade war and annexation threats from the US. The incumbent Prime Minister Mark Carney of the Liberal Party faces off against the Conservative Party’s Pierre Poilivre, who previously earned endorsements from US President Donald Trump’s inner circle.
