Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz is highlighted at Carnegie Hall

Gabriela Ortiz is one of Mexico’s best-known classical composers, and she’s becoming better known in the United States, as the Los Angeles Philharmonic has premiered many of her rhythmic, colorful compositions. As Jeff Lunden reported, this fall she began a season-long residency at New York’s Carnegie Hall that has offered many exciting new pieces.
