Two German states held elections this past weekend, and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party made big gains. In the state of Thuringia, Björn Höcke, the AfD’s top candidate, has been on the campaign trail while also being in court on charges of using Nazi slogans. Even so, the AfD got more than 30% of the vote — and could take its first state government. Rebecca Collard reports from Erfurt, Germany.
