Why Mexico isn’t joining sanctions against Russia

Many countries across the globe have punished Russia with sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine. But not Mexico. The country’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador instead called for dialogue and also criticized social media companies for bans on Russian state media, decrying it as “censorship.” The World’s Carol Hills spoke with Jorge Castañeda Gutman, a former secretary of foreign affairs for Mexico and now global distinguished professor of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University, to learn more.
