US vetoes Gaza ceasefire resolution at the United Nations

On Tuesday at the UN, the United States used its veto power on the Security Council to block a draft resolution for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. This is the third time the US has used its veto to prevent a call for a cessation in the fighting since the war began on Oct. 7. The World’s Carolyn Beeler spoke with Richard Gowan, an expert at the Crisis Group who has been following the debate on the conflict between Israel and Hamas at the UN.
