Trains halted amid protests against India’s military reforms

Protests across India against a shift in the military’s recruitment policy have left trains ablaze and at least one person dead. The policy, known as Agnipath or “the path of fire,” going into effect this month, would begin new military contracts on a four-year basis, with only a quarter of recruits expected to continue after that term.
