Over the past week, thousands of employees from social media tech giants Twitter and Meta were laid off. Many of the workers are H1-B visa holders, which allows them special status to live and work in the US. The layoffs, however, mean that these special visa holders have fewer than 60 days to find and secure a new job to sponsor them — or they must return to their home countries. Fariba Faiz, a San Francisco-based attorney, focusing on employment-based immigration cases, joins The World’s host Carol Hills to discuss what’s at stake.
