Scandinavian experts bring authenticity to ‘The Northman’ vision of Viking age

A common complaint you’ll hear in “expert breakdown” videos on YouTube is that Hollywood compromises historical accuracy and authenticity for theatrics and box office dollars. But a new film with an ensemble cast, “The Northman,” goes to some extreme lengths to bring the Viking world to modern audiences. Its American director Robert Eggers is known for his attention to detail. But if you ask some of the Scandinavian experts who worked on the film like Nille Glaesel, they’ll tell you excitedly that he’s exceptionally “nerdy.” The World’s Joshua Coe has more.
