Saving Ukraine’s cultural icons one photo click at a time

Since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has been bombing cultural sites — sites that are uniquely Ukrainian. Preservationists are using “photogrammetry,” which literally means the act of deriving precise measurements from taking overlapping photos, then rendering them in three dimensions by using computer algorithms. Dina Temple-Raston, the host of “Click Here,” was recently in Ukraine and met those working to preserve the country’s heritage, on their phones.
