On International Women’s Day, Turkish activists say violence is worsening

Last week in Turkey, seven women were killed by current or former spouses in a single day. The violence has galvanized women’s rights groups, who say protections for women have been stripped away after Turkey pulled out of an international treaty to prevent violence against women. The Turkish government says it has a zero tolerance policy toward any abuse against women. But a planned march for International Women’s Day has been banned as The World’s Durrie Bouscaren reports from Istanbul.
